Our History
The Preamble
In the name of the Almighty God, we, the Members of The Church of Pentecost, in exercise of our natural right and freedom to establish a Church which shall be used to propagate the Word of God, do hereby adopt, enact and give to ourselves this Constitution.
Introduction & Precursor
The Church of Pentecost was founded by Rev. James McKeown (1900–1989), an Irish missionary sent by the Apostolic Church, Bradford in the United Kingdom to the Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1937. His ministry culminated in the establishment of The Gold Coast Apostolic Church in 1953.
Key Milestones
Established as The Gold Coast Apostolic Church.
On the attainment of independence by the Gold Coast, the Church became known as The Ghana Apostolic Church.
The Ghana Apostolic Church adopted the name The Church of Pentecost as its new name.
The Church registered its Board of Trustees under Certificate No. XO 158 as a Religious Non-profit Making Organization.
Primary Aims & Objectives
The primary aims and objectives of The Church of Pentecost are to practice and propagate what our Lord Jesus Christ commanded:
- Mark 16:15-16 (KJV): “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
- Matthew 25:40: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Global Presence
In a spirit of oneness and peace with all other Churches and organisations with similar doctrines, The Church of Pentecost has grown globally through affiliation and independent mission work, establishing branches all over the world – including Lille City Church here in France. The Church is empowered to use all net receipts for religious, charitable, educational and any other related purposes.
